The Automation Clinic is a global organisation, and we have designed and manufactured automation solutions for many different clients and partners around the world. The Application stories give an insight into some of these substantial projects. You can also find out about the major industry sectors that we have worked with, including entertainment, pharmaceutical and manufacturing.
Ferrari World, Abu Dhabi
Entertainment
The Automation Clinic helped put the magic into Ferrari World, the world’s largest indoor theme park, which occupies 82,000 square metres of floor space.
Our client, who is a major world wide provider of special effects to the theme park and movie industries, was commissioned with providing a special effects’ package into the V12 log-flume style ride within Ferrari World. The V12 ride provides an experience which simultates passing through the intricate workings of a Ferrari V12 engine. Our client was tasked with fitting 12 high powered air canyons within the piston section of the engine which simulated the explosions of the fuel/air mixture in each cylinder. Utilising products from the IDEC electronics’ portfolio, a PLC based system was implemented to control and sequence the equipment required.
National Graphene Institute, Manchester University
Manufacturing
The Automation Clinic provided a turnkey control system for the manufacture of Graphene, the world’s thinnest, strongest and most conductive material.
Graphene, a material set to revolutionise numerous markets worldwide which include: semiconductor manufacture, car manufacturing, mobile communications, computer technology, and bio-medical implants to name but a few, requires ultra purified water as part of its manufacturing process. Utilising automation products from the Rockwell Automation portfolio, The Automation Clinic implemented a PLC based control system which included an industrial PC interface configured as a SCADA client which gave the end customer a very robust control system and precise process tracibility.

Siemens S7-1500 PLC Platform, UPS Sweden
Manufacturing
The Automation Clinic implemented a new Siemens S7-1500 PLC platform, into a UPS state of the art distribution facility, which depends on reliability.
Having worked extensively with the new Siemens TIA programming platform it was a natural choice to utilise the latest S7-1500 PLC. This also incorporated a 15” Comfort HMI panel and G120c variable speed motor drives, all connected together via a Profinet redundant media ring. The system consisted of 15 conveyors which required independent control, as well as synchonised operation. The advanced level of diagnostics provided over the Profinet network allowed accurate fault diagnostics in addition to highly accurate process control. The system architecture provided a very quick commissiong period as the system could be fully tested at The Automation Clinic works prior to shipment.
